Sarah Logan, MPAS, PA-C

My name is Sarah Logan and I serve on the Membership Committee for ASEPA. I graduated from Arcadia University in 2002 with my Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant studies. From 2002 until 2014, I worked in private practice in general pediatrics in an outpatient setting. While I enjoyed working with children, it was time for a change. I always had an interest in endocrinology, and in 2014, I accepted a position at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, PA in the Endocrinology Department. Our main focus was Oncoendocrinology. We treated patients with various endocrine malignancies, with a special focus on thyroid cancer. We also treated patients who developed endocrine issues from their cancer treatments for non endocrine malignancies. This included osteoporosis and endocrinopathies from treatment with immunotherapies. I also served on the Immunotherapy work group to come up with institutional guidelines for managing immunotherapy related adverse events. We also focused on educating clinicians outside of the oncology realm about recognizing and managing these adverse events.

In July of 2019, I started a new position at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL. I am a part of the Head and Neck team in the Endocrine section, and I just accepted the position as APP Supervisor for the Head and neck Team. I am enjoying working at Moffitt, and I am excited about my new role. My family and I are also enjoying our new life in the Florida sunshine.

I am proud to be a part of the American Society of Endocrine Physician Assistants. This group has done amazing things to support endocrine Physician Assistants and establish a place for us in many other organizations.

Katharine Patrick, PA-C

Katharine Patrick is a board-certified physician assistant who has been in clinical endocrine practice since 2019. She attended Furman University in Greenville, SC for her undergraduate degree in Health Sciences. She knew that she always wanted to go into the medical field and was deciding between different options such as doctor, PA, or registered dietician. It finally dawned on her that she wanted to be the one sitting one-on-one with patients and educating them on prevention and lifestyle changes, but also able to  diagnose medical conditions and make medication changes. She finally determined that PA was the best route for her. She found a job as a Medical Assistant in a busy Atlanta endocrine practice, Atlanta Diabetes Associates, for a few years to gain clinical experience required for PA school. She then attended Mercer University in Atlanta, GA for MS in Physician Assistant Studies and graduated in 2018. After graduation, she and her husband moved to Denver, CO, pursuing their dreams of living in the mountains. Katharine got her first PA job in adult endocrinology and has remained in this specialty since. She currently works for UCHealth Endocrinology and now lives in Fort Collins, CO.

Outside of work, Katharine likes to spend time with her family - husband, daughter, and 2 dogs - and friends. She loves being active outdoors with running and mountain biking in the warmer weather and skiing in the colder weather. Her indoor hobby is making espresso drinks with her home espresso maker.

Sean Flynn, PA-C

My name is Sean Flynn, and I’m the treasurer of ASEPA. I’ve had a journey to get to where I am now, but I’m happy to be working in endocrinology. I grew up in Denver, CO and moved to San Francisco for my undergraduate education at the University of San Francisco. I met my fiancé while in undergrad, and we both moved to Boston to attend the MGH Institute of Health Professions PA program (I’m the loud one, she’s the smart one!). After we graduated last May, we both moved to the Los Angeles area to start our career as PAs. She works in Occupational Medicine, and I moved into my current role in outpatient Internal Medicine and Endocrinology.

I’ll admit it- I’m a narcissist. I’m a type 1 diabetic who works in endocrinology. I always had an inkling that I wanted to work in endocrinology, but I was able to set up two endocrine rotations while I was in PA school to solidify my interest (one was with Dr. Zemel and Kristen Scheckel, our former Treasurer, and was a great experience). Outside of work, I like to spend my time watching football (Go Broncos!). My fiancé and I are trying to get back into running, but it’s literally a slog.
